About me

My name is Lana Stepišnik and I am a game design student currently pursuing my Master’s in Games at the IT University of Copenhagen. I come from a background in Media Communications having completed my Bachelor’s degree from FERI, University of Maribor in 2023.

My journey into game design began in 2022, during an exchange semester at Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) in Tampere, Finland. There I enrolled in Games Academy, which introduced me to different aspects of game design, with the final project being a collaborative game project. That experience sparked a strong desire in me to pursue games not just as a passion, but as a career.

Since then I’ve been building experience across different formats and roles. In 2023, I participated in a BIP Erasmus program called Digital Games and VR, where our team attempted to develop a serious VR game over the span of 6 weeks - partly remote, partly on-site in Barcelos, Portugal. I’ve also taken part in Nordic Game Jam twice over the course of my studies and worked on a full production team in DADIU, where I gained hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary game development team.

In 2025, I had the opportunity to join the Women’s Mentorship Program, which pairs female game students at ITU Copenhagen with industry professionals. Through this program I’ve been focused on learning more about the realities of working in games and gaining insight into entering the industry with confidence.

I’m passionate about creating engaging, playful experiences. I’m especially drawn to collaborative environments where creativity and thinking out of the box are encouraged. I enjoy exploring unconventional ideas and finding playful or unexpected solutions to design challenges. Being part of a team that values open-mindedness and creative thinking is where I feel most inspired and motivated to contribute.
